and so it goes Bah, I don't want to take maths in the twilight slot. Stupid college. It's so ridiculous that you need maths for an english degree. In what kind of wacky parallel universe does that make sense? I've taken GCSE maths three times now, and my grade has dropped each time. In fact it was a U (unclassified) last time, which is as low as you can get (unless there's a secret 'this exam paper is not fit to clean up dog vomit' grade). I'll have to work like hell to get it this year, and not just to improve my knowledge, but to keep my boredom under control. It's not just that I find it completely incomprehensible, but that I get so bored that I really cannot learn anything. The twilight slot is two hours a week - two hours! I cannot last in a GCSE maths lesson for two hours. Last year it was an hour and a half, and I hardly ever went. I couldn't face it. I'll have the same teacher I had last year, who I like well enough, in fact I probably like her better than any other teacher here I've decided I don't like music magazine journalism. 'Derivative this, unimaginative that, let's all nitpick our way into our graves.' Can't people ever just enjoy anything? I don't see the point of constantly pushing for innovation and for something that no one's heard the like of before - it's impossible anyway. There's nothing new under the sun, everything has been done before. All the reviews on amazon.co.uk seem to follow the 'X's new album, which is reminiscent of blah blah and contains shades of the early work of blah blah and blah blah, has fallen into the unfortunate trap of being labelled the British blah blah' formula. I'm not sure how I'd like to see the reviews written, but not like that. It doesn't help anybody. Don't even get me started on people who dismiss bands out of hand as soon as they have a Top 40 hit. In other news, our Prime Minister is discussing the quickest way to send the world to hell in handbasket. No change there then. I'll carry on ranting about the minutiae of college policies until the everything falls down around my ears. Speaking of avoidance, it's been a while since I did one of these: ![]() What Chuck Palahniuk novel are you? brought to you by Quizilla Hmm. I really want to read that. I want to read all of his stuff. <3 PS. Woo! I managed to write an entry with some substance for once. |
