laughter in the dark

wonderful crap

Don't you love Judge Dredd? Isn't it some of the most wonderful crap ever?

I know I haven't been posting much the last few days. I don't suppose anyone really noticed though. I'm not saying that in an attention whore way either, it's a statement of fact. Anyway we went away for easter, blah blah chocolate internet-less boredom chocolate blah blah. My atheism and well, hatred of all organised religion, which used to manifest itself vaguely enough in a refusal to go to church and a lip-curl and a grab for the remote whenever Songs of Praise came on (and who doesn't react that way when Songs of Praise comes on?) is becoming more and more vehement all the time, it seems. I find it hard to articulate the reasons why, however.

I hope you're not thinking I refuse presents in December and chocolate round about now. Not a bit of it. I have to get something out of religion.

Should enjoying Stephen King's work be a source of shame? Is it trashy? Doesn't seem trashy to me, I think it's as well written as, well, other well written stuff. Is it the thing about mass appreciation that turns people off it? You know, "too many people enjoy this author, I am better than the masses who are all sheep and therefore I will shun, and shun hard. I go to find an author no one else has heard of!" I find that boring. It's the same with hatred of chart music. What the fuck does it matter if it's in the chart or not? If you like it, listen to it. Why limit yourself? Life is far, far too short to be cool.
